Installation error

When trying to install some programs i get. What does this mean? I have gtk+2.0 examples isntalled from syanptic what should i do...

checking for gtk+-2.0 >= 2.0.0... Package gtk+-2.0 was not found in the pkg-config search path. Perhaps you should add the directory containing `gtk+-2.0.pc' to the PKG_CONFIG_PATH environment variable No package 'gtk+-2.0' found
configure: error: Library requirements (gtk+-2.0 >= 2.0.0) not met; consider adjusting the PKG_CONFIG_PATH environment variable if your libraries are in a nonstandard prefix so pkg-config can find them.

It sounds like you don't have gtk+-2.0 installed. Or if it is, it's either not a version greater that 2.0.0 or it's in a non-standard location. It's telling you that if you have it installed somewhere else, the location needs to be added to your PKG_CONFIG_PATH environment variable.

Do you have gtk+-2.0 installed? It may not have been a part of the gtk+2.0 examples you installed.

I guess i dont, so im trying right now. I have everything i need to install it but when installing atk i get

GLIB 2.5.7 or better is required. The latest version of
*** GLIB is always available from ftp://ftp.gtk.org/. If GLIB is installed
*** but not in the same location as pkg-config add the location of the file
*** glib-2.0.pc to the environment variable PKG_CONFIG_PATH.

but glib 2.12.3 is installed and i just install glib 2.10.3 im a lil confused now

That looks odd - you have 2.12.3 and it wants 2.5.7 or better? I haven't used Ubuntu so I don't know how it manages packages. I'd check to see if there are any known issues with the package manager and then try to force the install (without the dependency check) if possible.
