Hi, I got some problem which I believe related to some setting. What happened was, one day, I accidently did some setting in my Ubuntu. When I boot it up the next time, it started as normal. But when reach to the screen to key in userid, I can't see properly the GUI. What I saw was some distorted orange color.
I think I did some setting like "load without graphic". May I know how to I set back to make my Ubuntu load with graphic again?
Try booting into recovery mode, then scroll down and choose the option: "xfix fix video" or whatever the xfix option says exactly. Then reboot with "sudo reboot". And see if that gets you your desktop back.
Hi tommcd,
How do I reboot from recovery mode? I am reinstalling my ubuntu now. Anyway, thanks for your reply.
When you boot Ubuntu do you see the grub menu that lets you choose what operating system and what kernel to boot?
If Ubuntu is the only operating system on your computer, then you may not see the grub menu on bootup. If that is the case, then to boot to recovery mode, hit the Esc key as the computer boots up to see the grub menu. Use the arrow keys to scroll down to the recovery mode option. Hit enter to boot to recovery mode. Then select the option for "xifix".
