Best advice would be to update from Ubuntu 14, since it is VERY old. Chances are the webcam will 'just work' on the latest Ubuntu. And what have you done/tried to get your webacm working thus far?

Ubuntu 14.04 (and 14.10) are completely out of support for the normal users who don't pay for extra support by Canonical.
Upgrade to 19.10 or 18.04 by reinstalling (don't install 18.10 or 19.04).
Then show the output of the command
Code:
lsusb

post the output to this command please

Code:
lsmod | grep uvc
if you get a hits similar to this...
lsmod | grep uvc
uvcvideo 118784 0
videobuf2_vmalloc 16384 1 uvcvideo
videobuf2_v4l2 28672 1 uvcvideo
videobuf2_common 53248 2 videobuf2_v4l2,uvcvideo
videodev 212992 3 videobuf2_v4l2,uvcvideo,videobuf2_common
media 45056 2 videodev,uvcvideo
usbcore 294912 6 xhci_hcd,snd_usb_audio,usbhid,snd_usbmidi_lib,uvcvideo,xhci_pci

then you have a uvc compliant web cam and can use guvcview webcam software if interested

Test the webcam with Cheese. If that doesn't work, test it with guvcview. Odds are that it will work with one or the other.

Once you are using a distro that has not reached End of Life, both of them should be in the repos.
