I have to re-activate my wireless card every time I start up

Every time I reboot, I must go back to the networking config program and activate my wlan0 connection. How can I make it auto-activate?

Are there any error messages at boot time or in /var/log/messages (respectively, System Menu: "System --> Administration --> System Log")? Most likely, somewhere there are error messages indeed, and you'll need to find them in order to determine the cause of the failure.

Cisco aironet support is "flaky" - at best. I managed to kick the init scripts into order, and had it working until last week. Maybe they rolled some Dapper fixes back into Breezy, as I've seen complaints from there.
Now I power-on with the card out, and insert it once up - hotplug handles it o.k. Don't know if you are having similar - of course, if yours is built-in this is no help at all ....

I installed ubuntu 5.10 on my IBM laptop and I cannot get my WIFI card to work. The card is a Linksys WPC54G version 4 adapter. Does only one have any ideas on how to fixthis problem. I'm will to purchase another WIFI card, but I need some advice in that direction. rmack@securitywalls.net
