I cant seem to get Windows to operate on my desktop

You really should provide more information about what you are trying to do and what you have already tried.

This is posted in the Ubuntu forum so I guess that you are using Ubuntu. Still, you should state which version of Ubuntu you are using.

Are you trying to get Windows to work in a virtual machine? If so which one? What exactly have you already done?

This could be the case.

At one time, though, I had the opposite problem. Windows ran on my box. Formatting fixed that.
