How to add a binary package to debian repository?

Hi,

I thought it will be a piece of cake to find info about that but no. There are tons of info about repositories but none seems to fit.

There is that repo I have to add a package to. Up till now the package is uploaded manually and some description is added to "Packages" file. The package is binary and I don't have the source code.

How can I add it to the repo? dprg-genchanges works only on unpacked source tree so I can't generate ".changes" file.

Any Ideas? Thanks

you need to regenerate the metadata of the repo. That means practically you need to construct a new repository containing all the "original" packages and additionally your own package(s).

Isn't it possible to make ".changes" file myself? Most info can be obtained from dpkg-scanpackages actually. The lines that confuse me are in Changes section, something like:

Code:

   * c8f3d7d Fixed deference of null user pointer.
   * a4848c4 update to use lower on dna_name
   * 09120f8 check for NULL IndexM before doing lookup
There I can write info on package maintainer and where to find them. What about the "c8f3d7d" strings? How are they generated? I read those lines were extracted from debian/changelog file. Can I put an arbitrary string between the * and the real text?
