Hauppage TV Card- No Audio..

Well, some of you may have saw some of my threads on the difficulty of getting a TV card configured with Ubuntu.

Well, I've had some partial success today. I now have a picture! Still no audio unfortunatley. Everything else(MP3s, DVD's, etc.) play audio fine.

Card- Hauppage WinTV Go-Plus

I followed the instructions on the link below,

http://www.ubuntuforums.org/showthre...highlight=1033

adding the suggested lines to /etc/modprobe.d/alsa-base

This allowed me to start getting Video to my tuner card. I've checked the audio cable, it is properly installed. I've also checked the audio properties(ie, Line in) of my sound system, and it is enabled.

Edit to add- I have the Exact card he has(even the same model 1033), so in theory, everything he posted should be working.

Any help/suggestions anyone can offer, would be greatly appreciated.

IGF

Getting audio with that card requires two steps. 1st and external cable to your sound card is required. 2nd you need to turn off muting for that capture port and adjust the volume. In my case this was the microphone capture port. If you're using Ubuntu Gnome, right click the volume icon in the upper applet bar and select "Open Volume Control". What to do next will be self evident. If you still don't get sound, right click the volume icon again and select Preferences. The preference you want is Alsa mixer for your sound card. There will likely be other devices but that's the one you'll want for almost everything.

Well, the cable thing I figured out as I mentioned in my first post. I'd also already checked all the volume issues, etc, so I knew that wasn't the problem. This was clearly a detection problem.

I have 2 TV programs installed, KDETV, and TV Time. Both would show a picture, but neither would play audio. So I opened KDETV(as its a little easier to configure), and went into the sound options. Took a little trial and error(ok, a lot), but eventually, I found that when I set my sound system to "OSSMixer Plugin", and set the Mixer to "Line 1", sound worked fine in KDETV.

I then shutdown KDETV, and fired up TV Time, and its also working perfectly.

Go figure..

Thanks for the help
