Hello, I have an HP TC4200 Tablet PC with an Intel 915GM Graphics chip that I'm getting a very odd problem with Compiz. It seems that when I first run compiz --replace everything works normally. However, once I log out and then back in I get the effect that the inside of windows are not drawn properly. I can sometimes get the contents to show if I minimize and maximize the window repeatedly. It's hard to explain so please see the screenshot below to get what I'm trying to explain.
I'm running Kubuntu 7.10 (Gutsy) and would really like to take this to an up coming Microsoft centric conference I'm going to work to show off the wonders of Linux. I know compiz can work on this chipset because I've seen to many youtube videos show it and I've also seen it work on this system with a Knoppix Live CD.
I have already followed the steps at http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=601310 to setup Compiz. I think compiz itself is fine, I'm beginning to think I'm missing something important in my xorg.conf file. I haven't modified the xorg.conf file, it is what Kubuntu generated on install.
Just to help make the post longer I'm going to include a bunch of relevent info below for consideration. If anyone get point me in the right direction for a solution I'd be very happy. Thanks.
lspci output relevent to graphics controller:
Code:
00:00.0 Host bridge: Intel Corporation Mobile 915GM/PM/GMS/910GML Express Processor to DRAM Controller (rev 03)
00:02.0 VGA compatible controller: Intel Corporation Mobile 915GM/GMS/910GML Express Graphics Controller (rev 03)
00:02.1 Display controller: Intel Corporation Mobile 915GM/GMS/910GML Express Graphics Controller (rev 03)
glxinfo output. I'm sorry it's so huge but I don't know what bits are relevent.
Hey there, just want to let everyone know I found a solution on the compiz forums. For the Intel 915GM I had to add the following line in my Device section of my xorg.conf. Now it works perfectly!
