grip cant find sound encoders in 7.10

my sincerest of apologies if this is a dumb question, but i keep getting invalid encoder messages that tell me to make sure i have specified the right path to the executable encoder file. i have ran several incarnations of linux, but i am new to ubuntu, and the other ones just encoded ala the default stuff in grip. what should i do? and please, if possible, use little words. i dont know a whole lot about linux

Have you installed win32codecs? Ubuntu requires that you install that separately to handle proprietary (mostly multimedia) file types. You can find it in the repositories using Synaptic Package Manager.

Cheers
