The only problem I've had was trying to install all of the updates at once and it crashed the computer. I reinstalled and chose to not update for awhile. I've been running perfectly for a few weeks now and I can see a big future for Ubuntu.
you think we will see it in a shrink wrapped box? :P
I'm not sure they could package it given their philosophy of it being free of charge. But I do see it very possible that ubuntu could be a widely distributed replacement for the Windows desktop.
I think its got a long term secure future because the guy who owns the company that "develops" it is quite loaded financially and is firmly committed to opensource.
I have a fear that it might follow the same path as Redhat.
Big company backing it decides there's some bucks to be made, so why continue to give away all the hard work of developers you have to pay salaries to.
