firefox on ubuntu, kde

I've been using the "KDE" desktop with the Ubuntu distro for many months. In the last few months I've seen what must be *warning* blurbs after firing off a given package. Google pops up some responses that are over my head. My friends give me an "I-don't-know" shrug in their replies. So This is the last place Ii can think of to ask.

Firefox is my default browser. In the past few/several days, whenever I exec firefox I get (initially) 4 errors on my Konsole; if I do another

% firefox &

I see:

(process:24953): GLib-CRITICAL **: g_slice_set_config: assertion 'sys_page_size == 0' failed

The only thing I can think of is to delete _all_ gnome packages. I figured I would post here before I go that route.

Anybody know??

I had the identical message on Slackware 14.1 with KDE and firefox a month ago and also, just a couple of days ago opening firefox from a terminal in PCLinuxOS with KDE. It doesn't affect using firefox in any way that I notice and I don't see any other messages. Opening opera from a terminal I get a message to run mozplugger.update but I have no problem using Opera. Konqueror opens with no warnings or messages. I did some googling on this and I'm in the same situation, I have no idea what causes it or the resolution. What are the other warnings you refer to and are they specific to any program? firefox?

I have been seeing this for a long time. I googled the error and it seems it is a known bug in Firefox which Mozilla have no interest in fixing just now.
Edit: See here: https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=672671

There were no other strings, "WARNING"s or otherwiss. If I opened firefox from the "K" menu, this output (that's very likely sent to stderr) wouldn't be seen. {I have exec'd things from the menu and from the Konsole/xterm and by if I just type it into the Konsole, I've seen this kinds of stderr output.} Nutshell, until things blow up [!!], I'll be a happy camper. --I'm glad *somebody* has seen this before... .
