Customize login process on Ubuntu 7.1

Hello,I need to customize login process. I need to customize login screen. I need one button there and when use clicks it login process with predefined user should start. And when I click on logoff i should be redirected to this customized login windows. This needs to be done for ubuntu 7.1
Can any body help me in finding the source code change /configurations details needed for this

See the system administration menu. There are tools for configuring that (it is easier in kde). You can also install slim
