I should clarify what I said posts #3 and #5 about the root user password; the root user account is disabled by default in Ubuntu and other Ubuntu-based distributions. So unless you've enabled the root user account, then you will need to use your normal unprivileged user account's password instead, regardless of whether you're using the graphical environment or the command-line. All operating system related files will still be owned by the root user account, but once again, the root user account itself is disabled unless you enable it (which you can). Sorry I wasn't clear about that before.
At the end of the day, luckyBackup is just a GUI frontend for rsync that uses the Qt libraries. You can read more about it here, you should also have a look at it's website here as well.
