Click Modular Router installing problem

I'm having a problem installing this Click Modular Router software.

tried:
Code:
./configure --prefix=$HOME/click/
make install
got:
Code:
click-elem2man: warning: category 'devices' begins with a lowercase letter (used in UMLSwitch)
click-elem2man: warning: category 'devices' begins with a lowercase letter (used in UMLSwitch)
cd .; ../missing makeinfo click.texi
WARNING: `makeinfo' is missing on your system. You should only need
it if you modified a `.texinfo' file, or any other file indirectly
affecting the aspect of the manual. The spurious call migh also be
the consequence of using a buggy `make' (AIX, DU, IRIX). You might
want to install the `Texinfo' package or the `GNU make' package. Grab
either from any GNU archive site.
make[2]: *** [click.info] Error 1
make[2]: Leaving directory `/home/box/click-source/doc'
make[1]: *** [install-doc] Error 2
make[1]: Leaving directory `/home/box/click-source'
make: *** [install] Error 2
anyone knows what's happening here?
i tried both Dapper and Edgy + tried to install that 'texinfo', but still, it gave the same message.

I'd greatly appreciate any comments or suggestions

Presumably gnu make is installed? (Make sure makeinfo is installed and that the locations are correctly configured in the top makefile)
How did you "try" to install texinfo?

You can start by opening the makefile in /home/box/click-source/doc and reading through its instructions... i.e. in target "click-elem2man:", gives a warning that "the category 'devices' begins with a lowercase letter".

This is only a warning, but "warning"s are all we have to go on right now.

You also want to go through the top makefile in the same way.

Click is very experimental code. It is at the stage of academic development - people are writing their PhD Thesis on it! You will need a full development environment to install it.

Make sure that you've installed the package "build-essentials" as it has most of what you need for compiling. You may also find you'll need to install "-dev" versions of some additional libraries when they can't be found during a compile. Experimental code can be interesting but isn't a good candidate for a production system. I'm would think there are some more stable alternatives that could be recommended if your specific application was known. Basic routing capabilities are part of Linux.
