Maybe just my experience (or the fear others dropped in my head) but I try to stay away from win products on linux. Meanwhile, I am assuming you have already looked around at the many games for linux. There are far too many of them out there to list here.

When we switched from MS to linux a few months ago, we were introduced to lots of games. My kids switched pretty easily from their win98 to the edubuntu.

Most of us picked up our wisdom from the same places we pass on to you: forums, google, friends, books, whatever, sometimes even "dumb" luck.
