Brave on Kubuntu 20.04 - Unable to run the command specified. The file or folder /snap/brave/107/opt/brave.com/brave/brave does not exist.

Hello all.

I have Kubuntu 20.04.

I have installed Brave since a long time ago. It is a web browser.
I installed it from Discover.
It is a snap package.

I have also place a shortcut on the quicklaunch thing (like we did with Win 98 or Win 7)

After an X amount of time, it always fails to launch.
The message box looks like this

MESSAGE:
Unable to run the command specified. The file or folder /snap/brave/140/opt/brave.com/brave/brave does not exist.

140 is a folder and the number always increments.
Why does Brave always change folders and how can I stop it?
When it changes folders, the shortcut on the quicklaunch bar doesn’t work anymore.

I also have Chromium installed, which is a snap package, but this one doesn’t present this problem.

When installing brave by snap, does it put brave command (or a link to it) in your path? If so can you just change the Exec line in desktop file to not specify a path?

It does a link on the Start menu under
Start -> Applications -> Internet

but the DESKTOP file is not in
/usr/share/applications

but I don’t see the brave.desktop file there.

I am able to launch brave from the Console.

Hope that answers the question.

There is
org.kde.kate.desktop

a folder called wine
and I guess .DESKTOP files related to WINE.

OK, I found a solution.

Install it this way.
This info comes from brave.com

sudo apt install apt-transport-https curl

sudo curl -fsSLo /usr/share/keyrings/brave-browser-archive-keyring.gpg https://brave-browser-apt-release.s3...ve-keyring.gpg

echo "deb [signed-by=/usr/share/keyrings/brave-browser-archive-keyring.gpg arch=amd64] https://brave-browser-apt-release.s3.brave.com/ stable main"|sudo tee /etc/apt/sources.list.d/brave-browser-release.list

sudo apt update

sudo apt install brave-browser

It will download about 100 MB of files it will decompress, it will place a shortcut on your Start menu.

And Discover updated it today and Brave is still working from the Quick Launch bar.
