apt/sources.list problem

I'm trying to add an entry to sources.list to access packages at http://http.us.debian.org/debian/pool/non-free/

so I added this to sources.list:
deb http://http.us.debian.org/debian pool non-free

but when I run apt-get update i get:
Code:
Failed to fetch http://http.us.debian.org/debian/dists/pool/non-free/binary-i386
/Packages.gz 404 Not Found [IP: 64.50.238.52 80]
What am I doing wrong?

(I just installed ubuntu and I'm trying to get a package, slime, that doesn't seem to be available at any of the ubuntu repositories.)

You need to specify a version:

Debian3.0r6/ 31-May-2005 15:55 -
Debian3.1r3/ 31-Aug-2006 09:54 -
README 31-Aug-2006 00:37 449
etch-proposed-updates/ 26-Sep-2006 15:28 -
etch/ 26-Sep-2006 15:28 -
experimental/ 26-Sep-2006 15:31 -
oldstable/ 31-May-2005 15:55 -
proposed-updates/ 26-Sep-2006 15:26 -
sarge-proposed-updates/ 26-Sep-2006 15:26 -
sarge/ 31-Aug-2006 09:54 -
sid/ 26-Sep-2006 15:31 -
stable-proposed-updates/ 26-Sep-2006 15:26 -
stable/ 31-Aug-2006 09:54 -
testing-proposed-updates/ 26-Sep-2006 15:28 -
testing/ 26-Sep-2006 15:28 -
unstable/ 26-Sep-2006 15:31 -
woody-proposed-updates/ 06-Jun-2005 12:42 -
woody/

One of those. Right now it's looking for version "pool," which doesn't exist. Try either stable, testing, unstable, or experimental.

deb http://http.us.debian.org/debian stable pool non-free

That should make it work.
