After Upgrade showing two Ubuntu in MBR


I performed all ubuntu updates to resolve my resolutions problem but its not working out. but after installing updates I can see 2 ubuntu in boot loader, showing different versions of kernel. my boot loaders shows

Ubuntu kernel generic X.X
Recovery ....
Ubuntu kernel gerneric X.lower version
Recovery...
memory test +
Other boot loader
- windows XP


is there anything to be editited or it should be left at it is?

The first one is the new kernel.
Boot from the new kernel, and see if everything works OK

If all works ok, you can remove the old kernel using synaptic.

thanks, i removed the older kernel and now i can bootup from latest one
