About ubuntu-6.06-server-i386

Hi folks,

About ubuntu-6.06-server-i386

Is its base OS similar to Ubuntu-6.06-alternate-i386 with packages for running server added? OR there are some specific packages for server included on this OS? TIA.

I have an Ubuntu-6.06-alternate-i386 box. Can I make it as ubuntu-6.06-server-i386 server by adding necessary packages on it?

B.R.

the only difference between ubuntu-6.06-server-i386 and ubuntu-6.06-alternate-i386 is that one sets up your system as a server (no GUI) and the other sets you up with a desktop environment (with a GUI)
You can install server software on the desktop version and you can install desktop software on the server version.
So if you want a server (with only text mode) go with the server version, but if you just want server software as well as a GUI then go with the normal install and just install server stuff after.
