Question a6130in


hi all,

my relative is planning to buy a Hp machine named a6130in it's specification are here:-

now my question is

Does ubuntu supports this machine with

Intel® 945G Express Chipset motherborad,
Video adapter Intel® Graphic Media Accelerator 950 Graphics card???

The short answer would be "yes", they're supported (search LQ for details)...

The long answer would be "no" because it isn't a thing *buntu does "just because" it's *buntu (or *lackware or whatever else distro). Supporting the motherboard chipset is a kernel thing and supporting the graphics driver a Xorg/vendor thing. Both Linux and Xorg are independant. Nothing a distro can claim as theirs or boast about. Not that you would have wanted to know that.

so which version of the linux kernel supports intel 945g chipset??
