2 simple questions i need answered


first off i love ubuntu, but i am having a few problems
i have mplayer, i cannot get video in firefox, like at big-boys.com i try to view the videos, but all it does is buffer and then nothing happens, can someone help me here.
and lastly i just got clamav, but i cannot figure out how to use it, after i download it what do i have to do because its not under any of my apps, i just recently switched from win 98 and am still getting used to linux. thanx for the help.

Have you met the Ubuntu Guide?

After you do that, forget about the clamav you downloaded. Just type these commands into the console:

sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install clamav


You can also use System > Administration > Synaptic Package Manager to do it graphically (the "Reload" button is the equivalent of the sudo apt-get install command; marking for installation and then clicking "Apply" is the equivalent of sudo apt-get install clamav).

thanx, but i already did all that stuff, i have already downloaded clamav, it is on my system, i just cant get it to work, i already have the repositories. i have all the codecs and everything, i just cant get mplayer to work right in mozilla, still need help

Did you also install the mplayerplug-in for Mozilla? You need it along with Mplayer and the codecs to view multimedia in Firefox/Mozilla.
