12.04 -- Removing all games from default installation

I know this has been raised/answered several times before, but the solutions I've found & tried have not worked for me completly.

I have Gnome panel and I can't work out how to remove:-

!. Applications > Games > "Aisleriot Solitaire"
and
2. The parent "Games" menu item itself.

All the other games have been deleted.

Right click on Applications allows editing the entries but not the removal of the "menu item" itself.

Ahh thanks,

I made a boo boo, I didn't make my question clear.

I have tried the command sudo apt-get remove aisleriot

But the Applications > Game menu still shows "Aisleriot Solitare"

I think its gone* but the item still shows the item "Aisleriot Solitare" and I think that is the reason I can't delete the "Games" menu.

(*because it wont run)

Ultimatly I don't play games and I want the Applications > Games menu gone.

Does anyone know how I can remove the "Games" menu.

That sounds like a glitch as once you apt-get remove it the icon should go also. Have you tried apt-get purge instead or just installing it then removing it?

Thanks I had not tried purge

~$ sudo apt-get purge aisleriot
[sudo] password for hdp160:
Reading package lists... Done
Building dependency tree
Reading state information... Done
Package aisleriot is not installed, so not removed
0 upgraded, 0 newly installed, 0 to remove and 0 not upgraded.

But the Applications > Games > Aisleriot Solitaire entry* is still there. (entry* name only not the game itself)

UPDATE.... Just tried reinstalling Aislerot (this installed two versions of Solitaire --Aisleriot and --Freecell (both ran) then deinstalling (complete removal) but Aisleriot Solitaire name is still there (now of course it does not run)...... but the Freecell Solitaire has been removed.

So back to square 1 I'm afraid.

I'm trying to remove the "Games" menu item really
I'm worried that removing the Aisleriot Solitaire game itself mightjust be drawing to much attention.
