As a general rule, yes.

Open a terminal and type "lspci" no quotes, hit enter, and post the output here. What version of Ubuntu are you using?

OK, first.. Your Nvidia device...

System/Admin/Hardware drivers... Do you see Nvidia there? is it checked and enabled? If its not checked and enabled, check it, and you'll be told to restart.

Hmm.. You're using 64bit.. I'm not really sure on that one.. I only run 32bbit, because of various driver issues, etc.. (I don't think Nvidia should be a problem though), however, your wireless could be an issue under 64 bit. Sorry, I'm probably not gonna be able to help you any further at this point.

I am now having the same problems that you had(resolution and wireless) on the same model computer. What did you do to fix it?

It would be great to know how you solved the issue so that others with similar problems can get help out of this thread.

What version of Ubuntu did you try, and is it 64 or 32bit? I can't speak for 64bit, but the wireless device will work "out of the box" on 32bit 9.04. Not sure on the Nvidia device, but I have no problem w/ Nvidia and 9.04 on my PC and my other laptop.
