LXer: What's Microsoft's role in the Novell-Attachmate deal?
Published at LXer:
Seattle-based Attachmate Corp. is buying Novell for $2.2 billion, the companies announced on November 22. At the same time, Novell announced the “concurrent sale of certain intellectual property assets to CPTN Holdings LLC, a consortium of technology companies organized by Microsoft Corporation, for $450 million in cash.”
So far, Microsoft is saying little about its role in the deal.

Dear members, Hi to all. I am wondering what will be overall effect on linux o.s. by this acquirement of novell by some company? As it is, the support from hardware venders for linux is diminishing day by day, even asus motherboards do not mention anything about linux. I do not use windows, except for this post because this is my son;s machine and the its linux hard disk drive has failed. I will also take this opportunity to get names shops in naperville, illinoise, usa who would be able to retrive the data on the failed/erronous hdd on this machine.
regards to all.
