LXer: The Death of the Newspaper

Published at LXer:

Why does the newspaper deserve to be saved? Just because they have been around for a long time? That's not a good enough reason for me. Or the arguments that society will somehow be lessened by their absence or be less informed without them is arrogant and presumptuous.

Personally I've started reading newspapers more now that "web has grown up", after the "web 2.0" and all. Until they can make 100% newspaper-like web browsers (that don't need interaction other than holding the paper), there's on replacement for a (good) newspaper with a cup of personally preferred beverage.

Trash ("news")papers are another story then; I wouldn't want to hear any excuses for their existence.
