Every Ubuntu release cycle churns out fresh new collection of wallpapers. These wallpapers are carefully chosen from a huge cache of user contributed images in Ubuntu Artwork Flickr pool. Oneric release cycle is no different. 14 gorgeous new wallpapers have arrived in Ubuntu 11.10 Oneric already and they are by far the best I have seen in any new Ubuntu release.

Hm, well obviously this topic is entirely subjective, but I disagree. For my money ($0.00, was what I paid for Ubuntu btw) the last rev had better wallpaper.

My favorite distro shipped wallpaper to date is probably the stone-bird.jpg from Fedora Core ~3, or so:
