On October 11, 2005, proprietary software maker Xara announced its plans to open the source code to its flagship vector graphics package Xara Xtreme, and with the help of community developers port it to Linux. Today, two years later, the project is stagnant and on the verge of irrelevance, primarily because the company couldn't figure out how to work with the open source community.

This is a damn shame! I've been using XaraLX for about 1 year and it's best vector graphics app out there, period. Illustrator, Inkscape and Corel dont even come close. It's easy to use, you get things done fast and no click-fest to get whatever done. I'm really hoping some dev with the skills/knowledge about these kind of apps will start working on it, having an app like this on gnu/linux is a blessing to say the least...
