If people do not like what "Tivo's" do with GNU/Linux, they should simply refuse to support the device. This is more meaningful than arguing about GPLv2 vs v3. Besides, according to my experience with an openSolaris liveCD called bellenix, the OS would be horribly incompatible with my hardware, so much that it can't even get to the login prompt. I had enough fun trying to get this anti-Linux hardware, store-bought system working in openSUSE.
