Debian has always aimed to adhere to the spirit of FOSS as closely as possible. As a result, its developers are known for their careful approach to the software included in the distribution. However, times are changing. In a vote held over the past two weeks, Debian’s developers decided to include non-free firmware by default in the Debian installer.

Long overdue, but, unfortunately, they still insist on systemd.....unless you 'jump through hoops' to install an alternative....

IMO this is needed, sorry but the completely free stance is just not viable today. There is a fine line between ideology and practicality and I honestly do not care if Stallman does not approve. Good luck getting your wifi working on a Stallman approved distro.
