I am new to SuSE linux and almost new to linux
My problem is that after enabling xgl and login in all th screen turns white
I have 64bit installed and i have nvidia gforce 7600GT
I use KDE

I installed from yast ,xgl.compiz,nvidia drivers
I tried installing xgl with two ways,manually by adding these lines:
To /etc/X11/xorg.conf > .............
Section "Device"
.............
Option "NoFlip" "True"
............
Section "Extensions"
Option "Composite" "off"
EndSection

To /etc/sysconfig/displaymanager >...............
DISPLAYMANAGER_XSERVER="Xgl"
..................
DISPLAYMANAGER_XGL_OPTS="-accel glxbuffer-accel xv:fbo"
....................
Then i run SuSEconfig and then i created this file which i saved to ~/.kde/Autostart/compiz.desktop:
[Desktop Entry]
Encoding=UTF-8
Exec=compiz-replace decoration wobbly fade minimize cube rotate zoom scale move resize place switcher & gnome-window-decorator &
GenericName[en_US]=
StartupNotify=false
Terminal=false
TerminalOptions=

I rebooted and then loged in a white screen.I had to run safe mode and undoo all these changes
Then i installed these packages :
beryl-core-snapshot
beryl-plugins-snapshot
emerald-snapshot : window decorator
emerald-themes-snapshot
aquamarine-snapshot
beryl-settings-snapshot
beryl-manager-snapshot

and in console did :
su
gnome-xgl-switch --enable-xgl

su
rcxdm restart

and then again loged in a white screen
and i did gnome-xgl-switch --disable-xgl
to logg in normally

I have an XFX GeForce 6200 card and, like you, I've always gotten the same thing (white screen) if I try to load beryl at start. It is mentioned in this HOWTO's on opensuse.org but the "fix" they have never worked for me and it's for AIGLX and I'm using Xgl anyway.

To get around that, until I figure out what's causing it, I've created a symlink in .kde/Autostart to /usr/bin/beryl-manager.
In GNOME I've added beryl-manager to my startup session. This will load up the beryl manager when I start either DE. Then I use beryl-manager to actually load beryl after I've started up either KDE or GNOME. I know it's an extra step but it works and I don't get the white screen/cube.
