whats it say when you run uname -r ?
did you update the kernel ?

search this forum for slow internet tcp window size.
its a bug in some servers (routers) that dont correctly handle the more efficiant window size that was used in the linux kernel for a few months around version 2.6.7.

there is an easy fix.

There also could be problems with internet speed if you're using 2.8.1 kernel.
