umask problems (Sorted Please Del)

Hi All,
I have a little problem I need to give a umask like this one.

Code:
umask "u=rwx,g=rwx,o=r"
Once its done it all works expect execute is not part of the list.

The other problem is it don't work over ftp. I tried setting it in vsftpd and it dont seem to work.

Suse 10.1 is what I am using.

As far as I know, you cannot set execute permissions using umask. For security reasons this has to be done manually using chmod.
