Angry Suse 9.3: USB/Firewire not working!

Hello!
Need some pro help on this one.
First of all, I am a beginner...
I have been using Suse 9.2 for 6 months and I recently decided to upgrade to Suse 9.3.
I have 4 external HDs with double interface (Lacie, Maxtor and Iomega, all of them Firewire and USB2.0). I have been using them regularly on Suse 9.2. Now that I upgraded to Suse 9.3, the system does not see them at all.
I connect them through the onboard USB connections (Gigabit MB) and through a PCI USB2.0/FW adapter (Conceptronics).
There must be something wrong either with Suse 9.3 or with my settings, although I did not change anything!
Can someone please help?

This is the output of the fstab, mtab and fdisk commands. As you can see they do not show up even there....

I dunno if this will help you any, but I had similar issues...

http://www.sb.fsu.edu/~xray/Manuals/FireWire_Linux.html helped me out some.

Try to check if the system recognises the HDD at all: in a running system, plugin the drive and switch it on. The output of 'dmesg' should show if the drive has been properly detected (only the last few lines). If it worked, the drive should be connected to a device-node (/dev/sdx). From your post, I would assume that sda and sdb are internal drives?

HellO!
I don't think it recognized any hardware at all. I haven't tried dmesg yet becasue I am now in the office. Anyway, I can tell you that the drive does not show up in the SUSE HARDWARE TOOL.
And yes, sda and sdb are my internal drives.
So what could I do? It looks like both Firewire and USB modules are not loaded at all!

Please advise...

Thanks!
Trizio
