SuSe 9.3 professional wirelesslan card problem

I couldnt get my wireless lan card to work with suse linux, so i searched the internet and found out that i needed to put the firmware in /usr/lib/hotplug/firmware/ or something like that so ive done all of that ok.

And now when i run Suse 9.3 my wlan card shows the green light to say there is a connection, but when i try to access the internet it wont connect to any websites. Im a noob at linux and have just installed it to duel boot with xp, works fine with xp.

wlcard is netgear WG-511 v1 54mbs

Just wondering if there is some command or config i need to sort out? any help much appreciated. Cheers

check your card is listed with
ifconfig
and iwconfig
also check your
route shows a UG entry.

check it is not a dhcp problem by entering in your browser
a ip address and not a domain name.

Unfortunately, the netgear chipset did not work with 9.1 as I rmember so it could be there is no
driver installed, though with the green light it appears you do have a driver, I haven't tried 9.3 so it might have been added since I last tried to get netgear cards to work.
