Question SUSE 9.3 and wmv files


Need HELP,
I have downloaded the additional - essential drivers- for SUSE but I do not know where to install (copy) them ???

Is it an rpm file you downloaded? In KDE, you can simply click the file and in the following dialog click 'Install with YaST'. Alternatively, use 'rpm -i <package>' on command-line.

If the format is different, have a look in the instructions. But I recommend to use the rpm. Have a look here:

Question

Hello abiscoOO,

No it is not an rpm package. It is essential - 20050412 tar.bz2 package of some additional drivers for MPlayer to play wmv files. i extracted the package but I do not know where to put the dll s which are there.

So you want to compile mplayer? I think that mplayer doesn't work with 'external' drivers, like xine. It has to compiled with the libraries (AFAIK). I recommend to have a look at the packages available from packman.
