i think SuSE Novell rated the best Linux Desktop & Office OS Market because as i've tried None of the known distribution come with the stability and the availibility of SuSE
Redhat & Fedora ( MP3 Licenese problem) & etc...
Mandrake formaly mandrivia (Bugs++)
etc... (Defficulty)...
At home i have SuSE 9.2 it is the FIrst Linux Home OS Distro that make me completely gitrid of MS Windows for ever without any Procedures after finishing the insatalling every thing is ready
Java plugin + Browsers + MPG + etc... it lacks nothing...
but, before 10 day's i've installed my NEW SuSE 9.3 Professional !!!!!!!!!!!!!
nothing work correctly i think Novell make abig mistake in a hurry !
MPG123 Error
mp3 and wav Error
Open office 1.9 BUG when running any of the contents Writer - calc etc...
Real player sound Control error.
GNOME sound control error..
and other bugs
what's that
the best news it that the update is alway's available, but with SuSE 9.2 every thing is fine unless you wanna a full stably OS you download the update but the basic tools work fine..
with 9.3 you need to download 160 MB and install it to make it work as 9.2 pro..
For what it's worth, I have found the complete opposite to be true. Aside from out-of-the-box issues with webmin and samba (they were both just plain broken but YOU patches resolved many of the issues) Suse 9.1 was far more stable than 9.2
I tried 9.2, and found it was horrible - HORRIBLE - out of the box, so I skipped it. When 9.3 came out I did a test install, and aside from obvious things (like DeCSS missing) it worked flawlessly. EVERYTHING Just Works(tm) out of the box with 9.3, including support for SATA, Promise chipsets, AND Intel's ATA chipsets, right out of the box. I did have to recompile the kernel to get DRI support (darn ATI cards) but aside from that no issues whatsoever.
Also: with Suse 9.3, you can choose either or BOTH OOo (OpenOffice.org office suite) 1.2?x or 1.9x to be installed. Be aware that you should EXPECT stability issues with OOo 1.9 since it is STATED to be experimental, NOT to be used in product (I and my clients all run it) and find it to be stable, but if you run into issues, what do you expect? It's in beta right now; not a production release, so if you run into issues, roll back to 1.2?x, or download the latest OOo nightly build and see if the latest CVS snapshot resolves the issue you're fussing over.
To complain about a distribution because you elected to install a known-unstable package and then bellyache about the stability of said experimental package is just silly at best.
Furthermore: when thousands of others on here have installed Suse 9.3 without problems, have you considered for a moment that it might possibly be hardware issues or even <i>user error</i> causing the problems, and not Novell's distribution?
i would like to ask every body here those work with 9.3 Pro, did you fine any problems like MP3 and vedio with SuSE 9.3 ??
i think what determine the distro is stable according to me is to done my activity well, my hardware is certified with linux from the release 9 without any pro, and also many friends tried this distro from different ISO sources and to differrent boxes with the same error..
i would like others to help us in this subject ...

I found the upgrade to 9.3 fairly painless with a several of the niggles from earlier versions gone.
Biggest problem now is stopping the kids from jumping in before I get a go.
Captain Skywave - the only "snacks" I get are the ones the missus brings in to keep me going when I'm busy
Sorry - couldn't resist

So basically you are saying that since Suse removed mp3 playback at first on the disks, then the distro is unstable? Mp3 playback is a quick download away, it isn't that hard to do just like it is not hard to install mplayer or the full xine version, nor does the lack of playback make an OS unstable. You may find your system is an inconvenience without the support but it wouldn't be called unstable just for that.
I wasn't too keen on Suse 9.2 as well. At the moment I am using several distros and Suse 9.3 is one of the most solid distros I have ever used. The issue regarding multimedia annoyed me, but it can be easily fixed.
My only annoyance about SuSE 9.3 was that webalizer seems to have disappeared completely. I went and downloaded the current version, compiled, put in place and all's well again. *shrug*
thanks for replay ..
notice that i'm working in an Educational Corporation which offer Linux solutions for students instead of windows, so they might not understand Apache, php, ssh, etc..
the first step to make them change to Linux is to give them a user friendly release to install it externaly and compare it with that Micro$oft winzift !!
it is not easy for them to understand MP3 license problems and bugs, because they will think as A desktop users, not developer or even programmers..
I had SuSE 9.2 64-bit and now I am using 64-bit SuSE 9.3 I never had any poblem with multimedia on either version. The only format missing the support is mp4/AAC.
Have you installed SuSE 4 multimedia packs?
plus obligatory software from packman?

I did not have problem with SuSE version of OpenOffice (although OO.org has some limitations), but I would suggest the latest version from OO.org. It is way faster, does not require crappy Bug Buddy, does not require java installation (which may be important if you have limited disk space and not using java at all)

This part is not clear. What problems you did you have after update of 9.2?
