Hi,
I've been trying to get Linux installed back on my laptop with no success. I've finally decided on SuSE, since it can be installed over the network (my CD-ROM drive was what caused the other attempts to fail).
I load up YaST, and select the packages (GNOME desktop and office tools). The partitions, as suggested by YaST, are the following:
Quote:
/dev/hda2 27.4 GB (/ reiser)
/dev/hda1 509.9 MB (swap)
|
I accept the proposed partition scheme and begin the install. It formats the partitions, and gives me the following warning message:
Quote:
Could not mount partition /dev/hda2 to /mnt.
You can continue if you know what you are doing, but, to prevent damage to your file systems, it is safer to cancel and reboot.
| Continue | Abort | Retry
|
I've tried safe mode for the install and pretty much any way I've thought possible, with no success.
I've also tried changing around my parition setup, but with no success. If I select "Continue", install proceeds but doesn't succeed. The drive runs out of space. After the install fails due to lack of space, I cannot restart the install process. YaST complains about no space being present in order for it to write its config files.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. If I left out a detail that you need, please let me know. I'm quite new here, so I'm still getting used to things.
