hello; I am not sure where to post this..my first post..
I have installed SUSE 10.1 and each time it boots up to the login script..i enter login name and password, accepted, then nothing more. !!! no matter what i enter, either nothing happens, or just a weird line Linux -uxdu or something repeats, or i get Command not recognized...
how do i get a complete install of SUSE 10.1 to run past this login/password script? can i avoid the login hassle??? many thanks in advance.

Is this the graphical login or the terminal (black screen)? If it's the terminal, after you enter the username and password, try executing startx.

hello and thank YOU for the reply.
I should have added i am on a black screen with white text down the left....i did enter startx and now i am what appears to be worse off! Its says Video Not Supported. video mode not supported... sigh.. i am using a Gforce2 agp 32 meg video card..which Suse 10.1 properly detected...and ran fine ..each time i try to install Suse 10.1 it insists on detecting the card okay but wants to run in 24bit 16million colors at 1280x1024 resolution..which i do not want. sooo during setup i change it to 1024x768 and when it final boots after complete install it NOW says Video Mode NOt supported.
its a black screen with bright blue bordered sign in white letters. I have installed Ubuntu with NO such problems..but UBuntu will not recognize my external dialup modem.. sigh... what am i to do????
