SUSE 10.1 Partition

Is it me or the SUSE partition utility is very lacking. I have 2 HD one that is 80 GIG and one that is 120 GIG. The first HD (80 GIG) has two partitions 20 and 60. The 20 is taking up by windows XP and the 60 is not formated. I want to install SUSE 10.10 on to the 60 GIG part of the HD. This is the problem, SUSE tells me I have todo this:

Delete HD1 20 GIG
Delete HD1 60 GIG
Delete HD2 120 GIG
Create root HD1 20 GIG
Create extended HD1 60 GIG

I just dont know why its tell me it needs to do this. I cant even tell it not todo it. This is so frustrating. I though linux gives you more control but it has less control then Windows!!!

Any ideas on how i can just install SUSE on the free 60 gig partition

You can't? Have a look at this: http://www.novell.com/products/susel...tallation.html

Click item 4 (Installation Settings) on that web page. During the installation procedure, when you're at that screen, you can click on the blue headline "Partitioning", which will give you the opportunity to specify which partitions will be created, how they'll be formatted and where they should be mounted.

The partition tool is one of the items that is not yet Novice User friendly under 10.1
Read up on it and be carefull.
Create a separate "usr" and "/" partition if you feel confident enough.
