Unhappy Suse 10.1 Internet Connection Problem

Hi guys,

I have Dataone BSNL (India) broadband connection. I can browse the Internet on Windows but couldn't configure the same on my OpenSuse Linux 10.1. I tried many possibilities to my little knowledge to get it working. The connection details are as follows...

IP Address - 192.168.1.10
Subnet Mask - 255.255.255.0
Default Gateway - 192.168.1.1
DNS Server - 192.168.1.1

Can anyone help in this regard to configure the Internet on Suse???

Thanks in advance...

Srinath

Did you already configure your SuSE with your connections details?

Did you get the connections details from your Windows configuration?

As a wild guess: Are you running OpenSuse on a separate hardware than your XP? If so give your OpenSuse another IP Adresse, i.e. 192.168.1.11.

What does the command "ifconfig" tell you?
What does "route" tell you?
What does "ping 192.168.1.1" tell you? (192.168.1.1 seems to be your local network-DSL-router; to verify the address you can ping the router from a XP DOS-shell)
