SuSE 10.0 install hangs right away

Hi all,

I am trying to install SuSE Linux 10.0 Evaluation version on my laptop (HP Pavilion ze4453EA). It shows the screen where "Welcome" pops up in 8 different languages, but it hangs right after that. What can this be ? The MD5 sum of my ISO is correct and Nero has never failed me before, so it's unlikely that it now suddenly has. I also can't seem to get back to the console output with CTRL+ALT and any of the F keys, so it seems badly stuck. Weird thing is that I remember this is not the first time I have this problem, I also had it once with an older SuSE on my desktop PC. Never found out then what it was, but I would like to now.

Ouch. It just sounds like your HP laptop doesn't like SUSE. Maybe you should go try 9.3? It's just as good as 10.0!

Yeah, already thought of that. Turned on the download this afternoon, just got it in and burnt it and guess what .... same problem. Only difference is that this time the welcome screen is green instead of blue Guess SuSE in general doesn't like my laptop

Have other distros worked with your HP laptop? Try Mandriva. I would put that next on my "best" distros that I've tried. They just came out with their Mandriva 2006 and it's pretty good.
