Question rcalsasound restart

I have had this problem ever since I installed openSuse 11.0. No alsa sound unless I run the subject command as root. I've looked in "System Services"(Runlevel) and it says alsa is running. However, when I run "rcalsasound restart" this is what the command shows:
linux-xxxx:~ # rcalsasound restart
Shutting down sound driver done
Starting sound driver: hda-intel done

So it looks as if it was running, shut down and restarted. If don't do this I can't get any sound from alsa at boot-up.

You may need to put your username in the audio group. Try editing /etc/group and tacking your name on to the end of the line that starts audio:x:
