Problems with SUSE 9.3

I had SUSE 9.2 in HDA and just installed SUSE 9.3 in HDB out of curiosity.

1.) Noticed that for SUSE 9.3, when shutting down, the status for Kill signal is "missing" (in red) instead of "done" (in green, as in the Term signal). I had done a couple of reinstalls and yet to add any other packages outside of the 5CD.

2.) During startup, SUSE 9.2 randomly does not detect my keyboard. I had to use the mouse to shutdown the system to retry..... hoping that the system detects my keyboard now

Is there something wrong somewhere?

MD5 sum and the SUSE checks on the CD are okay.

Hi Mic Q

I'm running 9.3 as well as 9.2 on the same drive in different partitions as well as fedora 4 ubuntu , windows , and a debian system.

The only thing I discovered is that Suse 9.3 recognized them all and put them in the startup menu, something I didn't see with any other OS and the annoying text balloons from the new kde.

I installed from DVD, the only thing I did myself was choosing and making the partitions and making a change to the nic install (name of the box). I installed some extra software. I had some trouble with Nvidea drivers. They have changed their latest driver so it won't work with some older cards (one i'm still using - no need to change) so I have to use the older. I had some troubles with 9.2 because of the same driver and same problem. For the rest the box is working beautiful.

Mainboard Asus A78n8x-x = amd sempron 2600+ = 1.5g ram = drives 120- 120- 200 = video Geforce 3 Ti500

I share the keyboard and the mouse and display with another system over a kvm switch - so actually I have 2 systems with 1 keyboard 1 display 1 mouse , functions without trouble in xp - me - suse 9.x - ubuntu - a.s.o.

The installation from 9.3 as well as 9.2 is a little bit tricky. Suse advises not to update the kernel while installing. The best thing is first install the system, try out your connection don't let it install patches..... If everything works fine, reboot, and install the patches , if you install a kernel reboot again.

Just one thing to add,
I had earlier observed (but missed out when posting this "problem") that SUSE 9.3 showed two folders for the " My Documents" of the WinME folder.

One under the name "My Documents" and another "MY Documents".

Weird

Didn't notice, but I don't have windows mounted on this box. I use a special partition between the distro's.

I know from the past that it always had 2 c drive's c: and C: and if win was on d: the same.
