Problems with pango

Hello,

I have SLES 10 SP1 installed.

I tried to update pango to 1.24.5 by installing from src. This caused all the system fonts in gnome to disappear, so I tried to remove 1.24.5 and reinstall 1.10.2-23.2 from the distro disk.

My question is, after trying make uninstall, make clean and make distclean, and reinstalling the old version, why do I see this:

# pkg-config --modversion pango
1.24.5

How do I get rid of 1.24.5?

And how do I get my system fonts back?

The error I'm seeing is:
(evince:26105): Pango-WARNING **: failed to choose a font, expect ugly output. engine-type='PangoRenderFc', script='latin'

(evince:26105): Pango-WARNING **: failed to choose a font, expect ugly output. engine-type='PangoRenderFc', script='common'

(evince:26105): Pango-CRITICAL **: pango_cairo_show_glyph_string: assertion `PANGO_IS_CAIRO_FONT (font)' failed
.
.
.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated,
Bill
