Do you know how I can make an ikon on the desktop to start bluefish?
Yes I do, it's called a launcher. I suspect you simply enter "bluefish" in the console, okay, these are the steps to make a launcher:
- right-click on the desktop
- select new launcher
- enter the command you type in the console
- provide a name
- optionally select an icon
However, I'm surprised Suse (or Mint) dont have that in the repo so you can install that and let the system make a launcher for you....but then again, I'm not well versed with Suse or Mint...
By the way, I use XFCE, I dont know how this works in the other DE's...

Launcher ikon
Sorry, Suse12.2 does not work like that by right clicking on the desktop
a drop down menu appears with the following commands; Run Command, add widjets,
add panel, activities, Lock widjets, lock widjets, lock screen, leave, desktop
settings.
Click on run command a small screen asks for the command ie Bluefish a drop down
menu appears with a gear wheel and the ikon of the command you are going to run.
You click on the ikon and drag it to the desktop. Clicking the ikon runs the
program.
I thank you for your help, I have always wanted to know how to do that.
My 2c on tools to use: have you considered Eclipse
Hmm, of course, the crown of IDE's...if you can spare the resource, this is a must, of course...
And, sorry for my lack of intel on Suse, I was under the impression that thr DE (Xfce in my case) would handle all the graphical-point-n-click stuff, my bad, and now I've learned something, innit cool?
