One soundless user in suse 9.2

I have a problem I could use some help with.
I have two user accounts (besides root) on my system. One (my account) works just fine, while the other one (my wives') doesn't have sound when playing videos.
KMix isn't able to find any audio devices.
Yast -> hardware -> sound works just fine and plays the test sound.
Both users are members of the group "audio".
