well, der, had to install the apt4suse rpm as root.. the directions didn't say that. So now it's 'downloading'. No status bar or anything. I have no idea if it's hanging or what. Been like that for 10 minutes.

I saw no mention of the dvdcss codec required for hollywood movies. I've had the best of luck with the following URL:

http://cambuca.ldhs.cetuc.puc-rio.br/xine/

Again be sure to uninstall all the xine rpms from SuSE.

geez, how time is passing by. despite your post being already one month ago, fragos, this solution worked well! i just tested one video-file since i am in a hurry again; but surprisingly it worked. i will report on mp3-support later.

thank you!

regards
ungua

p.s.: my operating system and also "yast2" in "root" is german. but all the file-menues when logged in as "root" are in english. is it supposed to be like that?

Being an English speaker I can't answer your PS. I recommend you ask it in a new post and it may get some attention. Glad I could help with the other problem.

YaST and KDE have different translation packages. You may have a mix installed. I am not on Linux right now, so I can't check for the package names. But have a look in YaST for more translation packages and set the correct language in the KDE control center and YaST accordingly.
