no boot

so I finally reinstalled SuSE 9.1 on my desktop, last time I installed it, it didn't boot properly all the time.. half of the times, it would get stuck even before I was able to log in (not talking graphical environment here)

and now.. yet once again, it doesn't want to boot.. I've tried several times already but the puter doesn't get any further than 5 lines whilst booting in fail safe mode.. :s Does anyone know what the problem might be here..?

"the puter doesn't get any further than 5 lines whilst booting in fail safe mode.."

Could you list the messages that you get? What happens after the last line, lockout or what?

Seems it stuck in initrd. And this came all of a sudden? What did you do before?

Can you boot into Linux using your boot CD? Maybe you could repair/re-create initrd. You could also try to run the repair system from CD.

I didn't do anything as the first time I booted it came up like this...

when choosing rescue system I can however log in ... :s but once I try it the normal way, it doesn't function no more...

Maybe I should just download it again and retry it.. maybe my cd is damaged or so :s
