I want to try a new distibution, but i have problems uninstalling suse because Grub, how do i uninstall it? i have in one partition installed windows and in the other one suse.
I did that, but GRub was still installed and gave me error when i turned on the computer so i reinstalled suse.
Just leave them as "free space".
Install your new distro on this "free space" and install its bootloader(GRUB or LiLO) in the MBR(default for most distros). About all distros will normally pick up Windows as well and add a new entry for it in your new bootloader(in case it doesn't, you can easily fix it later).
from a DOS prompt in windows (you said you had windows on a partition)
elce most distros will overwrite it when they instlall,
NOTE if you are installing slakware choose the custom LILO setup and tell it to install to MBR not superblock
If you have Windows 95, you can use "fdisk /mbr" to repair the master boot record. Boot up with your Windows 95 repair disk. If you have Windows XP, you can boot up with the XP install disk and run the "fixmbr" option in the repair console.
Another option is to use the mbr backup file "/boot/backup_mbr" that SuSE saved during the installation.
If you have a single drive (/dev/hda) on your computer, "dd if=/boot/backup_mbr of=/dev/hda"
