What's you amarok version? Make sure it's the same version as the amarok package. The guru repository offered two versions (1.3.7 and 1.3.8), the last time I looked. The helix backend seems to be available only for amarok-1.3.7. I have no rvplayer installed and still it works.
ok...i'm getting a bit frustrated with this, I downgrade amarok to the 1.3.7...tried to install helix without rvplayer... didnt wokr said couldnt initialize the engine. I downloaded gstreamer... didnt worked also... although i didnt know how to configure that engine(output pluginn, device, parameter...)anyhow... why does suse doesnt come anymore with this already working!
alex
"Couldn't initialise the engine" means, that neither realplayer nor helix was found at the specified location. Did you change the paths as I pointed out previously?
I haven't had such a hard case as yours for a very long time.
No , i didnt change a thing...
and i didnt found a realplayer version for 64bit. so didnt that just ruled me out of helix?
You know what the funny thing is, that I just installed xmms and works!!!! how can that be possible?
The thing is that althugh xmms works... it looks like they kept it since kde2.0... looks a bit old...
The whole point of the helix engine is that it only works with the realplayer. I suggested previously, that you try the 32bit version. If you don't follow my advice, I can't help. Glad it works with xmms though. Happy mp3ing!
but how can i install the 32bit version on my 64bit linux. Isnt that...wrong? or calling for problems? I am really pissed off... i wanted it to work, and also wanted to hear online radios, and that...it sucks
Dude you wont believe what happened. I runned amarok, start messing around...and worked... Try bizarre.... works on xine, with oss output. funny thing ha?
Thanks for putting up with everything I asked!
